Here are some tips you need to know before visiting Borobudur temple:
- There are limitation of people to climb up the temple. This will be a nightmare especially during the high season (July – August) that thousands of people flocking yet only 1,500 people per day (150 people per hour) can go up to enjoy the temple up close. You need book the ticket online through official website or ask your agency to help.
- Alternatively, you can do ground tour without worrying about the limitation and more flexible time, starting from 7 am to 5 pm.
- The structure ticket of Borobudur starts from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm that includes 1 hour guided tour on the temple, a pair of upanat (flipflop) and a bottle of mineral water.
- Sunrise for Borobudur takes place on a hill 2 km away from a temple. It makes Borobudur look pretty small from a distance.
Update : Now Borobudur is open for an exclusive sunrise tour at the top of the temple. - You can wear proper casual clothes on the temple.
